Heb 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
During the Ineos 1:59 challenge, where one Kenyan,Eliud Kipchoge broke the world record by running a 42km marathon under 2 hours, we saw how he was surrounded by seven pace makers (who were record holders in their own rights) whose work was not only to shield him from the wind and other environmental elements, but also to ensure that he maintained a steady pace of covering one kilometer within the time of 2 minutes and 50 seconds. He was to run 100 metres in 17.05 seconds or 200 metres in 34.17 seconds in order to break the record.
We enjoyed watching the team work and finally celebrated the greatest win of our time.
Jesus Christ is our perfect pace maker. Unlike Ineos pace makers who were receiving cheers from all quarters, our Lord received opposition from men but did not loose heart.
So as we run the race of faith, let us lay aside every weight, and every sin which so easily ensnares us. Let us remember that our Chief Pace Maker is not only protecting us from spiritual elements , but also cheering us on as we progressively move from one glory to another.
