Mt 28:5-7
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.
He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Mary Magdalene and other Mary were fully committed to following Jesus because they loved him and served him when he was alive.
They were almost present everywhere Jesus was going to minister. Even when he was being crucified, the disciples ran away while Peter betrayed him, these women were around him up to the very end, watching every event from crucifixion to burial.
From their commitment to him, on the third day, while it was still dark, they went to anoint his body even when they knew He was dead.
What were they going to gain by anointing the dead body of their master?
They served the Lord, not to gain anything from Him but because they loved Him . They wanted to serve Him even in death.
The reward of their honest love and commitment was that, they were the first witnesses of the resurrected Christ.
From their witness, the message of the risen savior reached the disciples.
Commitment to the Lord will always be rewarded.
We should not give up because the rewards are eternal.
Let’s love and be committed to our Lord even when it doesn’t make sense. It will bear fruit in due time.
