2Ki 7:4
“If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.”
This was the time of a great famine occasioned by the Syrians when they besieged Samaria. Four lepers who were quarantined because of their skin disease had a serious discussion among themselves. Although their condition constrained their movements and interactions, they had to come up with the way forward.
The first thing they did was to eliminate all options. Going back to the city was a no! Maintaining the status quo – remaining there was also a big no! The only option was to go to the Syrian camp where they risked death or survival. They chose the least hopeless course of action.
God used these simple, constrained but creative human beings to bring great deliverance in Israel. Christian friends, don’t let constraints cause fear. We can still thrive during challenging times by maximizing the benefits of the crisis.
A crisis will reveal your true beliefs and convictions. It will bring the creativity and innovativeness that has remained dormant in you . May God give us supernatural ideas that will cause us to thrive during this season.
