2Pe 1:5-8 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love .For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because of God’s generous provisions in Christ, Peter encouraged his readers to build their foundation of faith. This seven virtues , sometimes referred to as the ” ladder of faith” are the fruits of sharing in divine nature.
Practical divine graces are the best evidence of our being made partakers of the divine nature. As children of God, we should be growing and becoming more like Christ day by day. We should not be satisfied by our spiritual state but we should constantly press until we attain the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
If we stop growing spiritually, we die spiritually. The virtues mentioned above must continue to grow in us. Fruitful Christians have an abundance of these virtues.
