“For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.”
— Jeremiah 32:15 (KJV)
Jeremiah was imprisoned for foretelling the destruction of Jerusalem and the captivity of king Zedekiah ( Jer 32:1-5). He bought land , by divine appointment from Hanamel the son Shallum . The deeds of the purchase were lodged in the hands of Baruch, before witnesses and he was ordered to lay them up in an earthly vessel.
This was to signify that , though Jerusalem was now besieged, and the whole country was likely to be laid to waste, yet a time should come when houses, and fields and vineyards should be possessed again in the land.
From our own physical perspective, it would a challenge to believe such a report.
God infers that although we are under siege or seemingly facing imminent defeat, the situation is not permanent. Even in the midst of uncertainty , like Jeremiah, we have hope of a better tomorrow.
