Psa 131:2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
Although David had been anointed by Prophet Samuel as the next king of Israel, he did not aspire to take the kingship by force from Saul. He was very easy in every condition which God allowed him.
He remained calm; he behaved and quieted himself like a weaned child. Although his heart was naturally desirous of aiming at high things as a baby is of the breasts, but by the grace of God, he had to let them go. His heart was weaned from those things.
It is only after spiritual weaning that we can let go off some cravings. It is after this that we can remain calm amidst loss , taunting, denial, false accusations and suspicion as we wait upon God to vindicate us.
When God withholds or takes from us comforts of any kind, it is good to lean our souls upon him in quiet faith and submission, and let him do with us as seems good in his sight.
