Joh 2:7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.Joh 2:8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it
.Joh 2:10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then that which is inferior; but you have kept the good wine until now.”
Jesus and his disciples had received an invitation to a wedding feast in a small town called Cana. In the middle of the wedding feast, the wine ran out. This prompted Mary, Jesus’ mother , to intervene in order to mitigate against this great embarrassment to the bridegroom. Mary was sure that Jesus would do something to help the bridegroom.
Jesus told the servants to fill six big jars with water. When the servants drew off the water, they found it had turned into wine. The chief steward was amazed. He was amazed because the bridegroom had served the best wine last. Jesus had turned the water into the best wine!
When we are in despair, with no human solution on sight, that’s when God delights to do his greatest works. He does not only change things but he changes them for better. He has kept “the best for you until now”. The best is yet to come.
