1Sa 17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
Goliath had begun his psychological warfare earlier. He had suggested that the staff David carried was fit only to beat a dog. Goliath cursed David by his gods which slanted that the battle was between the gods of Philistines and the God of Israel.
But David’s response to Goliath highlights the contrast in battle strategy. Whereas Goliath relied heavily on the arm of flesh ( sword, spear & javelin ), David’s move was a leap of faith. David fought in the name of the Lord of Hosts. He retaliated that if he conquered Goliath, the whole world would know that the God of Israel was mighty enough to rescue in a seemingly impossible situation.
What type of challenge are you facing today? David testified that the Lord saves but not with the sword and spear. When confronted with a seemingly impossible situations, what is needed is the ” risk – taking leaps of faith “. The battle belongs to the Lord.
