Isa 30:15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not.
The Assyrians invasion was eminent and instead of turning to God, the Israelites sought for an alliance with Egypt. The arrangement involved payment of an annual tribute as well as forfeiture of their independence. This would lead to shame becaause Egypt was an unreliable ally.
The healthy alternative was to relax and trust in God. In their quietness and confidence in God they would obtain strength. Unfortunately, God’s people were not willing to return to him for protection and salvation. They trusted in their horses and chariots more than they trusted him.
In quietness and confidence shall be your strength. Trying to overcome our many obstacles using our own strength will be an exercise in futility. Simply be still, draw close to God and let his strength renew you. Our strength is directly connected to our relationship with Him. Be still and know that he is God.
