Ezr 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.
Ezra was preparing to lead a group of Israelites from captivity back to the promised land. He was ashamed to request from the king for escort by soldiers because he had told him that “the hand of the Lord was upon all those for good who seek him and his wrath was against all those who forsake him”.
And so they fasted and petitioned God about their safety and he answered their prayers. The corporate prayer and fasting helped them navigate the journey to Jerusalem with confidence. The hand of God was upon them and he delivered them from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the way. ( Ezra 8:31,32)
As we commence the second half of year 2021, we need to humble ourselves and seek God so that the good hand of our God will be upon us in order to protect us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the way. Prayer and fasting will help us navigate the journey ahead with confidence.
