Isa 61:4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.
The Babylonians invaded and destroyed Jerusalem and it’s sur- rounding homes , towns and villages in 587 BC. The temple and the city walls were also not spared. The inhabitants were deported by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon.
But Prophet Isaiah was able to reveal the rise of Babylon, the captivity and above all the return . God raised Cyrus who allowed and facilitated the Jews to return and rebuild the ancient ruins; the walls , the temple, their villages and towns. They had to start from nothing.
This powerful image of ruins is bringing a message of hope today. It’s time to start rebuilding our ancient ruins. Could it be that our faith is in ruins ? could it be our our sons, daughters, spouses? Could it be our ministries, businesses, careers and jobs? It’s time to let the ruins come back to life again! After every set back, there is a comeback.
