Luk 2:25 And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
Luk 2:26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.
This was during the time when Jesus was being presented in the temple in Jerusalem. According to the Jewish law, all the first born of both human and animals were to be consecrated to God. And behold in Jerusalem there was a man called Simeon who was waiting for the Messiah.
The Holy spirit had revealed to Simeon that he would not taste death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. Being an aged man , Simeon must have lived his long life awaiting in anticipation for this great moment. Led by the Holy Spirit, he recognized the baby Jesus at once and held him in his arms ( Luk 2:26-28). This was a great moment for Simeon!
It will also be a great privilege for us not to taste death before all our promises are fulfilled. And for this reason , we do not lose hope but wait in anticipation for their fulfilment. To some, it’s a dream wedding, car, house, promotion, business etc Others are praying that they will be able to see their grand children and great grand children. Whatever it is , may it come to pass in Jesus name.
