Psa 49:6 Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the multitude of their riches,
Psa 49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him–
Psa 49:8 For the redemption of their souls is costly, And it shall cease forever–
It is an exercise in futility for men to trust in themselves or the abundance of their wealth. No matter how wealthy a man is, the price to pay to prolong life or secure an afterlife is too high and out of his reach. His wealth cannot save, redeem or deliver even those who are very close to him.
Wealth cannot provide ultimate answers. It cannot make a person right with God and it cannot prolong life. At it’s best, it can only give false hope. The ultimate cost was paid by ” by the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” ( Joh 1:29). The only true light, the only true hope and the only true life is found in God.This is when the gospel of Christ becomes good news.
