Jonah 1:3 But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.
I know most people on seeing the verse would say, ” oh the story of Jonah …” Yes because like most of us, He was running away from the voice and purpose of God. We run away from responsibilities and assignments given to us by God because we consider them not part of our mandate, risky , complicated or unattainable.
How privileged are you that God is specifically using you to accomplish certain purposes through your work, marriage and the people in your life? It is sad to see the Jonah scenario repeated. Sometimes you are unable to contain that hostile boss, colleague ,acquittance etc and are saying “I can no longer stand this ; I would better quit!”
When things do not work out as expected, do not run away. It may be that God is working to change not only you but those people in your life. God will walk with you in the most difficult situation but you need to obey and not run away from Him. Every situation is an opportunity to know God and to manifest his work.
