Mat 2:11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
At the time of Jesus birth, some Magi,or astrologers from the East saw an unusual star rising from the east. They interpreted this to be a sign that a great King had been born. The amazing star led the Magi right to the place where Jesus was.
And when they saw the young child with the mother, they fell on the ground and worshiped him. Then opening their treasures, they presented to him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Much effort has been spent to interpret the significance of the gifts, but what is definitely known is that the gifts were expensive and used by royalty.
Christmas is not only a season of receiving the savior but also sharing our blessings with others. As we celebrate the coming of our savior, we need to set aside time for worship and giving. Let’s not forget that Jesus is the reason for the season .
