Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
These people – Abraham, Sarah, Isaac and Jacob ( verse 8-12), did not receive the things promised. Nevertheless, each of them had faith in God. God promised, and they believed. God commanded, and they obeyed.
They did not receive the promised land, and they did not see their descendants become a great nation. But they had faith in the future, God would bring to pass all that he had promised. By faith, they saw these things from a distance – that is , far in the future. And they died living by that faith ( Applied New Testament Commentary – Thomas Hale)
Faith enables us to see the invisible. Faith makes it possible for a believer to have a glimpses of the future realities. We are not only able to see them by faith, but we are able to embrace them , possess them and look forward for their fulfilment. Every promise that God has made will come to pass in Jesus name!
