Mat 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
A preservative is something that prevents spoilage. It has the ability to protect something from decay. In the ancient world, salt was used for healing and cleansing, flavoring and preserving food and for sustaining moisture in humans in very dry weather. Salt was a highly prized commodity.
Going by what we read from the print media, listen and watch from the electronic media and what see from the social media, the world is decomposing and urgently needs a preservative. Gen 6:5 The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Believers are called the salt of the world because of their penetrating and preserving power for the decaying world. It is only believers who can make the world not only a ” tasty” place , but a desirable place to live. Salt purifies, preserves and prevents decay . We must never lose our taste. Tasteless salt is not good for anything except to be thrown out and be trampled under foot by men.
