Job 42:5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You.
Job was humbled because the Lord of the universe had spoken to him. This must have gone beyond his fondest wish of reestablishing his fellowship at a different level with God. Although Job knew so much about God by way of hearing , the current experience was different.
By confessing that now he had seen God, he meant that now he had experienced God’s presence and understood him better. God had revealed himself to him at a personal level. The previous consciousness of God through what he had heard about him was not enough. He now had the privilege of of knowing him by both the “ear and the eye”.
It’s true that faith comes by hearing. But faith is taken to a higher level when God reveals himself to us at a personal level. When God reveals himself to us , our views of him becomes more clear and distinct. We are able to discern and articulate his mind and will for our lives. When we encounter divine visitation, everything in our lives changes.
