Psa 119:39 Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good.
Disgrace is a state of being disapproved of. It is shame arising from bad behavior. Every human being would like to be loved , esteemed and held up in high regard. Nobody would wish to suffer reproach even for the very things they have committed.
David felt extremely frightened about something disgraceful that would happen in the future. This could have been as a result of a *secret sin ,a personal weakness or even the fear of failure . If anything like this came to the limelight , it could greatly destabilize his kingship or even his relationship with his subjects. Instead of waiting for it to happen, he went before the Lord and pleaded with him to take it away.
We all have things that cause us anxiety, intense fear and worries. At the same time , we all have our grey areas and we dread what would happen if we were to be exposed. Instead of waiting for such to happen, we can take them to God in confidence and ask him to take away the disgrace that we dread . Jehovah will not allow us to suffer shame for his name’s sake.
