2Co 3:1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you? 2Co 3:2 You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 2Co 3:3 you are manifestly an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.
Some false apostles were going from church to church carrying letters of recommendation as a proof of authority as apostles. They had to show these letters wherever they went. But did Paul need such a letter? No!
It was Paul who had brought the Gospel to Corinth and because of his preaching many people’s lives had been changed. Through the Gospel, there was a visible turnaround . This was Paul’s letter of recommendation. Everyone in Corinth was able to see the change that had taken place in the lives of Christians there.
Paul’s letter of recommendation was not written by man but by the spirit of the living God. It was written not on paper with ink or on tablets of stones. It was written on men’s hearts for everyone to read. Each one of us is a letter from Christ. Can other people read our letter? What are they reading there? Believers are supposed to reveal Christ in their lifestyle, words and deeds.
