Mat 14:29 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water
Mat 14:30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
Peter is widely known for always wanting to be the first in almost everything. Moreover he was fearless. When we finally find him , he is trying to prove to the whole world that no feet is beyond him and he could imitate his master and walk on water. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid , and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me”.
Self-confidence is good but it is not enough on its own. Peter learnt the lesson the hard way.
Unless he fixed his eyes on the Lord Jesus, he was bound to sink despite his courage and intellect.
Brethren, unless we are fixated on Jesus, the surroundings may not be favorable and inviting. But the moment our eyes are on the Lord, we are guaranteed of success irrespective of the situation.
Next time you set your eyes on a challenge , however small the feat may appear, remember it is not about your intellect. It is the master of the universe who makes all the difference
