Act 12:5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. …
Act 12:15 “You’re out of your mind,” they told her. When she kept insisting that it was so, they said, “It must be his angel.”
Herod had arrested Peter and ensured that he was heavily guarded. Prior to this, he had already put to death James, the brother of John. He was planning to execute Peter and make a public spectacle out of the execution. However the church was earnestly praying for Peter. God , miraculously delivered Peter out of prison.
Interestingly, when the miracle happened, it was too good to be true . There, standing at the door, was the very answer to their prayers ! Initially they doubted if indeed it was Peter. Then they all begun to rejoice and praise God.
” Herod” may connive and set the stage to embarrass the church and the saints. He is free to advance his schemes, but the church should also persist in prayer against all the odds .
When you feel like praying and at the same time you are feeling like the worst will happen and the fate has already been sealed , cheer up and continue in prayers. Our heavenly father will surprise you with the answer. Don Moen sang, ” My God is able ,he is mighty, he is faithful . He never sleeps he never slumbers… rest in his love and cast all of your cares on him”
