Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. (Philemon 1:7|NIV)
Paul praises Philemon for his agape love towards him and the brethren. Through this benevolent act many were refreshed and encouraged. Philemon had ministered to Paul and the church in Colossian which he hosted in his home. He had also influenced his family positively. Indeed he was a man of impact.
My prayer is that we will refresh brethren in our little ways and not put our hearts to it and remember that we are in the service to the Lord. May we endeavor to enlighten others as we minister to them through our deeds seasoned with God’s Grace. Find ways on how to refresh your colleagues, family members, neighbors, and friends. Let all whom we interact with have a lingering experience of our virtuous deeds to them.
Brethren, if we do our duties well, we shall not need be exalted above God. We shall not only be praised from quarters we don’t expect but more importantly we will have pleased the Lord of the harvest who will reward us accordingly. Whatever you put your hand to do, give it all it takes and let God take the credit and grant you his grace and favor accordingly.
