Jonah 2:7, 10 “When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, Lord, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land .
Jonah 3:1-3Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you”. Jonah obeyed the word of the Lord and went to Nineveh.
The word of the Lord came to Jonah to go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it. But Jonah ran away and headed for Tarshish . As he was sailing for Tarshish, the sea became violent forcing the sailors to cast him into the sea where a great fish swallowed him. Inside the fish’s belly, he called unto the Lord who commanded the fish to vomit him. He received the word of God again and this time he obeyed.
The phrase God of second chance is common in the tongues of many . But is he really God of a second chance only? His mercies never come to an end ; they are new every morning ! If God was not patient and merciful, none of us would survive . God is not in the business of keeping a track record of our failures. He is not just the God of second chances but of third, fourth, and on and on .
He knows we will fail ,but He never gives up on us.(pastor jack Wellman ) . But this is not a leeway to continue sinning so that grace may abound, no! ( Rom 6:1) As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. ( Psa 103: 13,14)
