Dan 3:17 “If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. Dan 3:18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image you have set up.
A lot has been said about the three Hebrew boys who defied the Babylonian King when it came to matters of worship. By asserting that there was no god who could deliver them from his hands( Dan 3:15) , Nebuchadnezzar was openly declaring a contest between Yahweh and the Babylonian gods. Yahweh was openly challenged to demonstrate His existence, power and compassion to those who love him.
They believed that God whom they served was able to deliver them from the furnace of blazing fire. But even ” if” God chose not to deliver them, they were not going to be presumptuous by demanding a miracle. They had unwavering faith in God and not in circumstances. God was at liberty to do what was for the best interest for them and his kingdom. *At the end of it all, Yahweh delivered his servants!*
Like Shadrach , Meshach and Abednego, it’s for our own good if we allow God to have his way . Jesus pleaded that the “cup” be taken away from him but prayed that the will of God be done. The will of God was for him to die on the cross ( Luk 22:42 ). Even if it does not go our way, Yahweh still remains on the throne. We must allow his will to be fulfilled in our lives.
