Ecc 11:1 Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.
It has rightly be said that ” whatever goes around comes around ” The principle is that sown seeds will eventually become grown up seeds. What you plant in your life and in others peoples lives will eventually come back to you when the season of harvesting comes.
In our context, ” cast your bread upon the waters ” is a metaphor for being generous. The bottom line is that you do good wherever you go. After a while, the good you do will come back to you. If you invest your ” bread” or ” grain” wisely, in a broad market you will garner a return.
We must always do good as much as we can because it is godly to do so and a time for reward is coming. When we cast our bread upon many waters we simply cannot tell which seed will grow and which one will not. But one thing we are sure of is that a significant number of seeds will grow and there will be a harvest. Casting bread upon many waters evokes the law of sowing and reaping ( Got Questions).
