Dan 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
To dare is to break the norm. It is to refuse to conform to the status quo; to refuse to accept the popular opinion and move to defend one’s course in life. “Normal people keep the world going, but those who dare to be different leads us into tomorrow” (Kyrie Irving).
Daniel dared to be different. He chose not to defile himself with the kings delicacies. He knew that part of that food had been offered to the Babylonian gods. He had a choice to flow with the momentum and become like anybody else or take a godly path and be different. He chose vegetables and water coupled with a good conscience than the momentarily excitement of ungodliness. In his lifetime, he was privileged to serve four Babylonian kings.
People who dare to be different maintain a high focus on their destiny . Sometimes ,because of your convictions, people may see you as insane when you fail to flow with the momentum of the hour . You must see things the way God sees them and strictly walk along that path. Tomorrow belongs to the rare, exceptional individuals who dares to be different.
