1 Kings 22:8 (KJV) And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
The stage opens with the kings of Judah and Israel meeting to strategize for a battle that was before them. However, they reasoned together and decided to inquire of the Lord. As it would be, four hundred prophets supported the project before them but Jehoshaphat sensed something sinister and persisted for confirmation from a third party.
The king of Israel wanted to hear only what pleased his ears. Although the Prophets prophesied good about him, King Jehoshaphat reminded him that as a king it was wise to listen to a wide range of opinions from even those who oppose him . There’s a lesson to learn from people with contrary opinions. In addition you cannot be popular to everybody unless you are not a true leader.
Don’t listen to people who only sooth your ego. Some of them are hypocritical and out to gain from praising you. In addition , don’t only listen but let wisdom weigh in on you and then act as spirit of God directs
1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
