Jdg 11:7 So Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, “Did you not hate me, and expel me from my father’s house? Why have you come to me now when you are in distress?”
Jdg 11:8 And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, “That is why we have turned again to you now, that you may go with us and fight against the people of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
Rejection is defined as a sense of being unwanted. It’s an oppressive spirit that robs you joy and peace. Social rejection increases anger, anxiety, depression, jealousy and sadness. However, when we have God’s eternal love, the effects of rejection are made ” small”.
When Gilead’s Son’s grew up, they drove Jephthah out and said to him, ” you shall have no inheritance in our father’s house, for you are a son of another woman”. He was driven from his country by his own brethren without any consideration that he too was a son of Gilead from a different mother . But upon the Ammonites invasion of their country, they were quick to recognize his military prowess and went begging him back.
It’s the elders of Gilead who went for him. They did not write or send a message to him but they went for him. Their message to him was ” come and be our captain/ commander . Don’t get worried when people look down upon you, disqualify you , belittle you , mistreat you , ridicule etc They did so to Jesus! But the stone that the builders rejected became the great cornerstone!
