1Sa 22:1,2 So David left Gath and took refuge in the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and the rest of his fatherโs household heard about it, they went down to him there. And all who were distressed or indebted or discontented rallied around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.
The people who joined David at the cave of Adullam were regarded as being at the bottom social barrel.
They were distressed, indebted and discontented. These were defeated men, being led by a man on the run who previously acted like a mad man to prevent him from being killed. God takes ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
What made the difference was that David was a man after God’s own heart, was anointed and a warrior. Being with David, they too became mighty men after the sharpening period. They became mighty warriors, fighting giants, defending harvest against the enemies and doing great exploits. They took on the spirit of a warrior. (2Sa 23:8-39)
You may feel defeated, distressed, indebted or discontented in the way things are . The good news is that we have the King of Kings in us. God will divinely appoint and qualify us to undertake great exploits for the kingdom. God takes nobodies with the right heart on the inside and makes them somebodies.
