Pro 20:4 – The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
Timely planting aligns crops cycles with favourable climate conditions resulting in higher and generally more stable yields. The sluggard has ground to occupy and has ability for it ;he can plough but he will not and instead gives an excuse for it.(M.Henry)
The best time to plant is just before the onset of rains. Life presents us with many opportunities for planting, not only agricultural seeds, but seeds of good deeds, helping the needy, partnering in projects just before the onset of rains . The evil of slothfulness and love for ease keeps men from the most necessary business of ploughing and sowing when the season is due.
Proper timing is everything. When the time of harvest comes, unlike the sluggard, we shall have something to reap.Let us not give up in planting for in due season, we shall reap a bountiful harvest if we faint not.
Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Gal 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
