2Ki 5:12 “Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.
Naaman was a commander in the army of Syria. He was held high in favor because of the victory that God brought him. But he had reprosy . Naaman’s wife had a slave girl who told about a prophet in Israel who would be able to heal reprosy.
When arrived in Israel, the king sent him to Elisha the Prophet so that he could be healed supernaturally. But instead of Elisha coming to the door to greet him, he sent a messenger telling him to go and wash in River Jordan seven times and his flesh would be restored . But on account of who he was and from where he was from , he outrightly rejected the offer. He sighted the superiority of the Syrian rivers when compared to Jordan.
It was until his servants persuaded him that he agreed to go and deep himself into Jordan seven times and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child( 2Ki 5:13, 14).
Naaman’s represents a seeking soul, one in need of the Lord . But sometimes who we are and what we have can be a stumbling block to our blessings. Unfortunately, we may not be in a position to influence or dictate on how , where and who God should use to have our pressing needs met . But if we humble ourselves and obey his instructions, our prayers will be answered and our needs met.
