2 Kings 6:16 (KJV) And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
There is no greater courage than a person who exhibits courage in a crisis. As Franklin D.Roosevelt stated : Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the assessment that something else is more important than fear. Easier said than done? The person who could understand this is Elisha’s servant who woke up early to get to his daily schedule and to the shock of his life an army with horses and chariots surrounded the city. I can imagine the trembling and lack of strength on the knee joints.
Look at the contrast in Elisha totally calm as if it was a normal standard procedure to receive a courtesy call from an army with horses and chariots. If Elisha would have panicked , the whole perspective would have changed and the outcome would have been different. Panic has a way of interfering with logical critical thinking. I like his style and calmness to his servant and towards the imminent danger ‘ do not be afraid…those who are with us are more…’ and to the army. ‘follow me and I will lead…’
In the face of danger, relax it’s not your battle . But if it is your battle, go on face the enemy head-on but you will be overwhelmed. However, if it is the Lord’s let Him be ! Hand him the reigns and assuredly , no situation will upset you. You will even lead your enemies and they will submit to your biding.
