LUK 1: 25 “Thus the Lord has done for me in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.”
In Israel and among oriental people barrenness was a woman’s and a family’s greatest misfortune. Even in our times barrenness in most communities is a bitter pill to the concerned. After a marriage is consummated, the society expects the family to perpetuate the family line. This is not always the case as some scenarios arise which hinders child bearing. Most of the times the affected are stigmatized and judged harshly by the cruel society.
The highest sanctions of religion and patriotism blessed the fruitful woman, because children were necessary for the perpetuation of the tribe and its religion. It is significant that the mothers of the Hebrew race, Sarah, Rebekah and Rachel, were by nature sterile, and therefore God’s special intervention shows His particular favor to Israel. Fruitfulness was God’s special blessing to His people. (Salem Web Network)
Many are the times we get into situations that label us unfruitful. We venture into projects, business ventures, ministry etc that instead of blossoming and becoming fruitful, the contrary happens. The good news is that we serve a God who takes our reproach away. May He intervene in your area of despondency and make you fruitful in all spheres.
