2Ki 6:9 And the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.”2Ki 6:10 Then the king of Israel sent someone to the place of which the man of God had told him. Thus he warned him, and he was watchful there, not just once or twice.
The king of Syria was at war with Israel. For the purpose of planning a surprise raid to Israel, the king would summon a secret planning committee to plan on where to set his ambush. But to the King’s surprise, every time a strategic plan was formulated, the king of Israel had notice of them and so had the opportunity of preventing mischief . The frustrated king summoned his officers and demanded to know who was leaking their secrets to the Israelites.
The king was told that Elisha the prophet was the one responsible for what was going on. He was the one who was warning the king of every scheme that they came up with. The man of God would send a word to the king of Israel warning him of the whereabout of the Arameans. Time and again Elisha warned the king so that he was in his guard in such places. The king of Israel would regard the warnings given by Elisha.
For us, it is a great advantage to be warned of any danger and planned misfortunes coming our way. Our God is a relational God and one of his desires is to grow his relationship with humanity through regular communication . He speaks to us through his servants , His word and the Holy Spirit . He ensures that we are properly informed on what the enemy is planning against the saints. Amo 3:7 Surely the Lord God does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
