2Chr.15.7 – 8 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.
These are Prophet Azariah’s words to King Asa. He is reminding him the importance of perseverance, steadfastness and unwavering faith. Historically, Asa reigned over Judah when there was spiritual decline. People had turned away from true God and were worshipping idols. In this context, Prophet Azariah full of the Spirit of God go to King Asa to implore him and the entire nation to return to the true God.
Despite the spiritual declination, Azariah’s message to Asa was,” Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak:for your work shall be rewarded.”These words were meant to inspire the King and to remind him of the responsibility he had to lead people back to God.
In our current life, we may encounter various challenges from different quarters. They may emanate from spiritual, social, economical, or political which if not checked may impact our spiritual wellbeing. In such encounters, we may face doubts, temptations or trials that may weaken our resolve . Just like king Asa, we are called to be strong in our faith, relying on God’s power and promises for your work shall be rewarded .
