Phi 3:13,14 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
When Paul was writing to the Philippians, his success was indisputable but he wasn’t drunk with it . He further strained, pressed and stretched to attain bigger and better prizes that were up for grab . He lived in the tension of the present but not yet consummated in the kingdom of God. He knew Christ, he knew he was accepted by Christ but he did not regard himself to have laid hold of it.
Paul was completely single minded. He did not allow himself to be destructed from his purpose. He did not waste his energy on things that did not matter. He wanted to attain a full fellowship with Christ at the end of the race. He was forgetting what was behind and straining for what was ahead!
There is need for a transformative matrix. There is no way that we can be a” better me” if we continue to act the way we have always acted in the past. It’s time for all of us to be the men and women that God has destined for us to be . We were not meant to be born, grow up, grow old , achieve little success here and there and then die . No ,each of us was placed on earth for a time and a purpose. A purposeful life is the most fulfilling life. We have to maximise our potentials and follow the path that pleases God. We have to serve Him diligently and attain the goal and ultimately win the prize.
