Psa 18:4 The pangs of death encompassed me, And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid. Psa 18:5 The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. Psa 18:6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry came before Him, even to His ears.
A siege is an evil dominion, evil command. It is an evil force controlling a person’s life. The siege determines how far you can go in whatever you do ( Joshua Orekhie)
These are the words of David on the day the Lord delivered him from the hands of Saul. The perception of the inevitability of death is hereby brought to life. David is pictured as being under a siege and unable to escape. Floods is an image of being overwhelmed with water and in danger of drowning. The sorrows of sheol surrounded him and death confronted him.
In his distress, he called upon the Lord and the Lord heard his voice. His cry came before him, even in his ears. And the Lord descended from heavens riding on the wings of the wind. His canopy around him was dark waters and thick clouds. He thundered from heavens, sent out his arrows and scattered the enemies ( Psa 18:10-14). He crushed the siege and gave David victory!
We may be in a financial debt siege, relationship siege, health, academic or even a gambling siege. We have a God in heaven who does not only hear prayers but personally descends to attend to his children. There is hope to your current predicament. As we call him today, he will swiftly come down, send his arrows , and thunder against every siege and set you free.
