2Sa 9:7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
Mephibosheth ( translated as ” remover of shame”) was Jonathan’s son ( King Saul’s grandson) was crippled as a child. At five years old, a report came from Jezreel that Saul and Jonathan had been killed in battle. When the child nurse heard the news, she picked him and fled. But as she fled, she dropped him, and he became crippled. For many years, he lived at Lo Debar not only in hiding but also in deplorable and shameful condition.
When David was firmly established in the throne, he yearned to find someone in the house of Saul and Jonathan so that he could fulfill his covenant promise to Jonathan. Under the kings command, they located Mephibosheth and brought him to kings palace. David did not only show him kindness, but also restored to him all the land that belonged his grandfather Saul and directed that from that time hence forth, he would eat from the King’s table.
Mephibosheth was displaced from a position of influence, honour and wealth. His drop was not only a physical drop, but life it’s self had dropped him. But at the appointed time, God came through for him and restored him . You may be where Mephibosheth was; floored, depressed, disfranchised and discouraged. You cannot pin a righteous man/woman down forever! Cheer up, God has already organized for your come back!
