Gen 40:12 Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days. 13 Within three more days, Pharaoh will lift up your head, and restore you to your office. You will give Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, the way you did when you were his cupbearer. 14 But remember me when it will be well with you, and show kindness, please, to me, and make mention of me to Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house.
Pharaoh’s two officials were put to prison where Joseph was bound. One morning Joseph noticed that the two were down casted. He probed to know what the matter was. The two were frustrated because they had dreams and there was nobody to interpret for them. Joseph encouraged them to share their dreams with him. He went ahead and interpreted the dreams for them.
Don’t let your current situation rob your gift of showing mercy to others. You might be confined by adverse economic conditions but you are free to offer help to the dejected around you. When the cupbearer was restored , he continued with his job and quickly forgot Joseph.
Joseph remained in the prison for days, weeks , months and even years until Pharaoh had a dream. It was then when God reminded the cupbearer his shortcomings ( Gen 41:9). Even in the forgotten state, his good deed of helping did not go down the drain as Pharaoh’s dream catapulted Joseph to the palace. Men may forget you , but God will never forsake you. Continue doing the good work!
