2 Kings 7:1-2 Elisha replied, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a Shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.” The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” “You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”
They had already eaten the donkeys and the doves, dove’s dung and donkey’s head were the only remaining food in famine stricken besieged Samaria. Elisha gave a prophecy that the following day, choicest food will be available and will be sold at a friendly price .Conversant with the situation, a certain officer of high ranking said it was impossible for anything of sought to happen. This was majorly attributed by how the visible situation presented itself at the time.
The human perspective is limited and can only see as far as the horizon .Anything beyond the horizon is left to matters of faith and belief.
Seeing beyond the horizons is what the officers lacked and still happens to many today. Dire situations limits our vision while pessimism eats up optimism .Heavenly perspective is horizonless .It allows one to peep beyond empty stores and cupboards, negative available bank balances, alarming blood pressure and glucose levels and ushers one into the world of possibilities. Beyond the horizon, things are different for the floodgates of heavens are open.
