Luk 7:13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
Luk 7:14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” Luk 7:15 And he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.
Jesus went to a town called Nain and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out – the only son of his mother ,and she was a widow. A large crowd from the town was with her.
This was a sorrowful moment. The widow had already experienced grief after the loss of the husband. His son, who was now dead, may have been the only source of support, hope and comfort to her. Now she was on her own; completely alone . But Jesus had compassion on this woman. He touched the coffin , talked to the dead young man and commanded him to rise up. And the young man rose up and begun to speak.
Jesus is able to restore hope in the worst of our situations. When you are going through trials, testing and tragedy, Jesus sees and he is aware. He is telling you today, ” do not weep, I am about to turn your mourning into laughter “. It is so much comforting to know that the ” God of all comfort” is with you . He is the only one who can raise you up from ashes and bring joy and peace in your troubled heart.
