1Sa 17:24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid.
1Sa 17:32 Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”
Who will bell the cat is a fable concerning a group of mice who debate plans to nullify the threat of a marauding cat. One of them proposes placing a bell around it’s neck,so that they are warned of it’s approach. The plan is applauded by the others, until one mouse asks who will volunteer to place the bell on the cat ( Wikipedia).
That’s how the situation was in Israel. Every time the man Goliath arose, the whole army was terrified. “And when all men of Israel ,when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid”. No one was willing to bell the cat. But when David appeared, he told Saul and the Israelites to hold their peace because he was going to fight with him.
Big risks have big rewards if executed by faith , confidence and courage . We must have courage to face the most tough situations in life . Unfortunately, many will always shy away from tough undertakings and settle for what seems friendly and can be achieved comfortably. Such people may never rise to their God given destiny. Like David, when and where necessary, you should be the one who will volunteer to bell the cat!
