Est 2:21-23 In those days, while Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, two of the king’s officials, Bigthan and Teresh, of those who guarded the door, became angry and sought to seize King Ahasuerus. And the matter became known to Mordecai, who told it to Esther the queen, and Esther informed the king of it, in Mordecai’s name. And when the matter was investigated, it was found to be so. Therefore both of them were hanged on a tree, and it was written in the book of the chronicles in the king’s presence.
Assigned duties at the kings gate was Mordecai. He was a slave and a guard, a lowly rated occupation of the days. Diligently giving his service to all those who entered the kings courts ,many who ‘matter’ would despise and dismiss his existence . One day ,two senior officials of the king planned to annihilate him to vent out their anger. The plot was overheard by Mordecai who worked out to save the king.
Treating juniors in a way to put them in their “rightful” position is a trait possessed by many with an excuse of commanding respect . Little do they not know that they might be the only available ‘savior’ or an indirect referee to their new assignment.
A little girl “saved” Naaman from leprosy , a young man rescued Paul from murderers and Joseph rescued Egypt from hunger .We are surrounded by them in our homes ,workplaces ,churches, businesses, prisons etc. Treating them with decorum won’t take away “our” positions but would elevate their esteem and when God will pass” our ” message through them, they won’t hesitate to convey it .
