Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
In our busy lives, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, trying to solve our problems on our own. Many of us tend to treat God as our last resort, turning to Him only when we’ve exhausted all other options. Seeking God first means that in every situation, whether good or bad, our first action should be to turn to Him. It means placing Him at the center of our decisions, our plans, and our lives.Unfortunately, many people treat God as their emergency backup plan. But this approach is backward. God doesn’t want to be our last resort; He wants to be our first choice.
Turning to God as a last option can have serious consequences. When we try to handle everything on our own, we often end up feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and defeated. We miss out on the peace and direction that comes from relying on God. Going to God last can also lead to missed opportunities. When we don’t seek God’s guidance from the beginning, we might make decisions that are not aligned with His will.
It’s not enough to just go to God first; we must also ensure that we remain in His presence. Staying in God’s presence means continually seeking Him, abiding in Him, and keeping our hearts and minds focused on Him. Staying in God’s presence requires intentionality. It means setting aside time each day to pray, read His Word, and worship Him. It means listening for His voice and being sensitive to His leading. It means surrendering our will to His and trusting that He knows what is best for us.When we prioritize God and seek Him above all else, we position ourselves to receive His guidance, blessings, and peace. Let us not wait until we’ve exhausted all other options to turn to God. Instead, let us go to Him first and make sure we stay there, abiding in His love and grace.
