Mt 14:17-21 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said.
And he directed the people to sit down on
the grass.Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven,he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.
The crowds that were following Jesus listening to his teachings had been with him for three straight days and they were hungry. Being in a remote area, it was hard to find food to feed all of them in the vicinity. Therefore,Jesus instructed his disciples to feed them.
Humanly speaking , feeding and satisfying that mammoth crowd was impossible with only five loaves and two fish. When Jesus received the food, he gave thanks and the food was miraculously multiplied. Everyone ate to their full and they picked twelve leftover baskets full of food. This was nothing but a pure miracle!
The resources in our hands may not be enough to satisfy our needs. But the same Jesus who multiplied the fish and bread is still alive and ready to perform the same miracles today. Let us learn to give the sacrifice of thanksgiving and Praise to God for what we have in our hands. This will produce the multiplier effect and at the end all our needs will be supplied.
