“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green.” (Psalm 92:12-14)
The Psalm speaks of the remarkable resilience and spiritual vibrancy of those who walk with God. Those who are planted in the house of God will stay fresh and will flourish throughout their lives. They will bear fruit even in their later years.
Believers are often compared to fruitful trees, representing a life that’s deeply nourished, rooted, and resilient. They do not grow weary or dry because their source is eternal and unchanging. A life rooted in God is never barren; it produces fruit in every season. We are invited to anchor ourselves in Him, drawing from His strength, wisdom and joy. God’s people do not age spiritually the way the world might expect. Even in the latter years, they are productive, alive in their purpose, and abundantly fruitful. Their strength lies in God’s unchanging power, not their own.
Spiritual fruitfulness has no age limit. Those who are sustained by God continue to serve, teach, encourage, and uplift others. Their witness grows richer over time, filled with wisdom and grace. Aging with God is not a decline but an increase in spiritual depth and vitality. Like ripe fruit, the righteous grow in richness and value over time. May we be continually refreshed by His Spirit, bearing fruit that blesses others and glorifies His name. It’s in staying connected to Him that we continue to grow, flourish, and bear much fruit.
