Phi 3:12-14 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus
The phrase “be the best version of yourself” encourages individuals to strive for personal growth and self-improvement. It emphasizes the idea of maximizing one’s potential, aligning actions with personal values, and pursuing goals that contribute to overall well-being and fulfillment.

Paul was well educated. At Jerusalem, he gained formal instructions under Gamaliel who was a recognized Pharisee Doctor of Jewish law.( Acts 5:34-39). He was well conversant with the scriptures and he is the one who wrote almost a third of the new testament. He is the man who took the gospel far and wide and hence a key preacher of the gospel.
Yet in the above scriptures, he considers himself not to have attained perfection. He presses on to take hold of that which Jesus has laid hold of him. He forgets what is behind ( all previous achievements) and presses on towards the goal. He is yet to become the best version of himself – attain the full measure of Christ.
It’s true by God’s grace ,we may have attained a measure of success. But we have not reached the full measure of what Christ want us to attain. The best chapter of our lives is yet to be written. Like Paul, we need not to be complacent and overly hypnotized by our current achievements. We must press forward to become the best version of what God made us to become . The best is yet to come!
