2Ch 32:7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.2Ch 32:8 “With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
Sennacherib, king of Assyria invaded Judah and laid a siege to the fortified cities planning to conquer them for himself. This man was so arrogant to the extent that he discredited God and alleged that the LORD OUR GOD could not save his people from his hands. With his vast army, he was sure he could easily conquer Judah.
Hezekiah assembled the people at the square at the city gate and encouraged them. He exhorted them to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid of the king of Assyrian with his vast army because ” there was a greater power with them”. With Sennacherib was the arm of flesh- the great and vast army – but with them was the LORD OUR GOD to help them fight their battles.
The people and forces that are against you are relying on the arm of flesh- their vast resources, connections, influence etc. But be strong and courageous and do not be discouraged. With us, is THE LORD OUR GOD to help us fight our battles.
