Col 3:1 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.”
Col.3.2 – “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
The direction of your gaze shapes the direction of your life. Paul urges believers to look up first so that heaven guides their steps on earth. When your mind is set on things above, confusion lessens and confidence grows. Like David in Psalm 121:1, lifting your eyes reminds you that real help comes from the Lord, not from what surrounds you.
Looking up also steadies the heart. Peter walked on water in Matthew 14:29 until he focused on the storm instead of Jesus. Fear grows when we look around; faith grows when we look up. Keeping your eyes on Christ anchors your spirit and brings calm even when life feels unstable.
Finally, looking up prepares you to face the world with purpose. Isaiah in Isaiah 6:1–8 first encountered God’s glory before he could answer God’s call. Vision from above empowers mission on earth. When you begin with God’s presence, your steps become clearer, wiser, and more fruitful.
